โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
This paper describes the use of a photobleach method and confocal microscopy to compare the cellโtoโcell transfer rate of 5,6 carboxyfluorescein in dissociated embryonic chick lens cells with those in the anterior epithelium of the whole embryonic chick lens. The average cellโtoโcell transfer rates obtained were 7.9 ร 10^โ3^ sec^โ1^ in the dissociated cells and 2.6 ร 10^โ3^ sec^โ1^ in the anterior epithelium in an intact lens. ยฉ 1995 WileyโLiss, Inc.

Spatial resolution and the sensitivity to detect a fluorophore are the two most important optical parameters that characterize a confocal microscope. However, these are rather difficult to estimate quantitatively. We show that fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) provides an easy and reliable
The use of the confocal microscope for measurement of the thickness of thin transparent coatings, such as the varnish layer on compact discs, is described. The relationship between true and apparent thickness varies in a non-linear fashion, but intensity proยฎles show a good correspondence with calcu
