โœฆ Synopsis

The use of the confocal microscope for measurement of the thickness of thin transparent coatings, such as the varnish layer on compact discs, is described. The relationship between true and apparent thickness varies in a non-linear fashion, but intensity proยฎles show a good correspondence with calculated proยฎles. This provides the basis of a nomogram for prediction of coating thickness.

## Abstract This paper describes the use of a photobleach method and confocal microscopy to compare the cellโ€toโ€cell transfer rate of 5,6 carboxyfluorescein in dissociated embryonic chick lens cells with those in the anterior epithelium of the whole embryonic chick lens. The average cellโ€toโ€cell tr
