โฆ Synopsis
In this paper an attempt was made to obtain quantltatlve predrctlons of various aspects of the dynamic behaviour of a pllot-plant CSTR by means of a model syntheslzed from different laboratory klnetlc studies and heat transfer measurements taken on the reactor vessel Itself Generally, It was found possible to bound the observed behavlour wIthIn the spread of the klnetlc data, although the bounds were often far apart No single source of klnetlc data proved satisfactory for predlctlng all aspects of reactor behavlour consldered, which Included adlabatlc and non-adlabatlc batch operation and continuous flow experiments sub3ect to upsets In the catalyst flow ConsIderable progress still needs to be made in reactlon klnetlc studies before secure predIctIons of reactor performance can be made, even for relatively simple reaction systems such as the one studled here Particular attention needs to be pald to the systematic sources of error in klnetlc data which show up when the reactlon klnetlcs are gathered from different types of laboratory reactor employing different measurement techniques

The stability characteristics of an aerosol reactor in a continuous stirred tank configuration have been investigated theoretically. Three dimensionless parameters, the surface tension group C, reaction rate group R, and residence time group O,, suffice to determine the dynamic behavior of this syst
The purpose of this paper is to analyse transient and steady-state polycondensation in a continuous, stirred-tank reactor as an example of large, complex kinetic systems. The approach used is to effect a partial analytical solution of the exact rate equations supplemented by a numerical solution by
