โœฆ Synopsis

Absorption dam on HBr in liquid SF6 at 296 K are presented in the frequency range 20-200 cm-r. The broadened I -+ I t-1 transitions arc clearly resolved, more so at the higher frequencies. Although noisy, the data are good enough to discriminate between two models of liquid phase rotational dynamics. It is found that the modified M and J diffusion model of Frenkel and Wcgdam rests on sounder hypo:heses than a formalism, based on a kuncatcd hfori expansion, that does not predict preferential broadening of the lower frequency J-+ J + 1 lines.

The far infrared spectrum of dilute solutions of HCl and DC1 dissolved in liquid SF6 at OยฐC is observed in the frequency region 30 cm-1 to 230 cm-l. A broad absorption band is obtained for DC1 which is in excellent agreement with the band envelope defined by the relative integrated intensity of each

Both linear and infrared-infrared doub!e resonance measurements of the ~3 absorption band of SF6 dissolved in liquid 02 and Ar are reported. Saturation measurements of the infrared absorption give a V-T relaxation time of 27 f 7 ps in liquid 02 and 160 540 ps in liquid Ar. The \*tique feat-of the sp
