Pyrroles from ketoximes and acetylene

✦ Synopsis

The respective 2-aryl-and N-vinyl-2-arylpyrroles were obtained by the reaction of the oximes of alkyl aryl ketones with acetylene in the superbasic medium MOIl (M = Li, K)--DMSO. Their yields' depended largely on the structure of the ketoximes and on the reaction conditions.

The Trofimov reaction and its various forms are being used more and more frequently for the production of substituted pyrroles and their N-vinyl derivatives [2][3][4][5][6]. We investigated the condensation of a series of new alkyl aryl ketoximes (Ia-t) with acetylene.
