✦ Synopsis

We are delighted to be able to inform you about an important development for the benefit of authors and readers of Progress in Quantum Electronics.

Progress in Quantum Electronics has been selected for inclusion in a programme for a new 'Colourful e-Products' workflow. Papers received by Elsevier after August for this journal will appear in this new programme. For those papers which contain a mixture of colour and black and white illustrations, some of the figures that appear in black and white in the printed version of the journal will appear in colour, online, in ScienceDirect.

This 'Colourful e-Products' solution provides a welcome step forward now that scientists increasingly access information on line. Scientists in many disciplines need to be able to publish their work in colour, but the cost of colour printing in small, specialised journals can be prohibitive and we realise that not all scientists have appropriate funds to cover the charges.
