The higher stability of the picket-fence porphyrin derivatives relative to those obtained with other porphyrins (H,TPP, H,TPFPP, H,TMPf2. 3 , 'I) indicates that the 0x0 group of the Mn=O moiety of 2 probably lies in the hydrophobic cavity formed by the four pivalamide pickets of this porphyrin.
