✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The broadband proximity‐fed rectangular microstrip antenna (RMSA) is proposed. The proximity‐fed antenna has larger bandwidth (BW) and is simpler in design when compared with L‐probe‐fed RMSA. Further, the BW of proximity‐fed antenna is increased by using multiresonator or slot cut configurations. The proposed antennas give a BW of more than 300 MHz (>30%) with broadside radiation pattern with peak gain of 8.5 dBi. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract Systematic investigations have been presented by splitting a single rectangular microstrip patch into equal, smaller elements along the width, keeping the length same. Of these, one of the elements is fed while others are gap coupled to its nonradiating edges. The rectangular patch is g
