โœฆ Synopsis

The conformation for I : 1 and 1: 2 Pd(II)-Giy-Tyr complexes has been established with the 'H NMR method. A correlation between Au-of the AB glycine proton spectrum and the side-chain bulk of the bidentate Gly-Aspa, Gly-Giua and Gly-Tyr complexes with Pd(I? has been found. This relation corresponds to a lowering of the symmetry of the EPR spectra in the same series of dipeptide complexes with Cu(II). Both results suggest that the symmetry lowering of the glycine FfMR spectra and the Cu(Ii) EPR spectra are of the same origin, and that the influence of the side-chains is through the amine nitrogen on the metal ion and the glycine protons.

## Abstract The conformations of Glyโ€Phe and Pheโ€Gly dipeptides and those of their complexes with the Pd(II) ion has been established by means of ^1^H n.m.r. spectra over various pH ranges.
