## Abstract Hydrous ruthenium oxides have been investigated as novel support materials for fuel cell electrocatalysts for use in DMFC applications. These oxides were chosen in particular due to their potential intrinsic proton conductivity. Pt nanoparticles have been deposited onto the new support,
