β¦ Synopsis
The conductivities of the perovskite layered compounds (\mathrm{KLaNb}{12} \mathrm{O}{7}) and its ion-exchanged forms (M \mathrm{LaNb}{2} \mathrm{O}{7} \cdot x \mathrm{H}{2} \mathrm{O}(M=\mathrm{Na} \cdot \mathrm{H})) were investigated in the temperature range 20 to (80^{\circ} \mathrm{C}) by complex impedance measurement with the samples held at various water vapor pressures. The conductivity for all the compounds obeyed the relationship or (\times \mathrm{P}{\mathrm{H}{1}, 0}^{\mathrm{I} / \mathrm{m}}), although the (\mathrm{KLaNb}{2} \mathrm{O}_{7}) compound has no hydrous form. This fact suggested the possibility of proton conduction through the surfaces of particles. O 1993 Academic Press, Inc.
