β¦ Synopsis
It has been evidenced that microcrystalline chitosan (MCCh) with a determined (by the potentiometric method in nonaqueous medium) degree of deacetylation of 0.87 acts as a polymeric chelating agent with cobalt(I1) and zinc(I1). The predomination of hydrolytic reactions, in the case of copper(I1) ions, has been attributed to a change in crystalline character of the ligand. The protolytic reactions have been studied using the Katchalsky-Spitnik equation. The pH profiles have been shown for Co(I1)-MCCh and Zn(I1)-MCCh systems and the corresponding equilibrium constants have been determined as well. Both the amino and hydroxyl groups are involved in Co2+ complexation, whereas for Zn2+, the complexes are formed only via amino nitrogen.

## Abstract Polymer metal complexes of poly(styrene sulfonic acidβ__co__βmaleic acid) and Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), and Zn(II) were synthesized. The magnetic, spectral, and thermal properties, as well as the electrical conductivities, of the chelates were investigated, and possible structures were as
Poly(viny1 chloride) (PVC) has been reacted with dimethylglyoxime (DMG) in THF to form the PVC-DMG complex, which has been characterized by spectroscopic and elemental analyses. The latter indicate that there is one DMG moiety anchored on the PVC chain by displacing every 12th C1 atom in the chain.
In this work the influence of the porphyrin structure and of the nature of the mobile phase upon retention parameters is examined by means of reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Acetonitrileβethyl acetate and other mixtures were used as eluents. An increase in the retention
