For all carbon sources tested, shear stress increased with the shear rate and flow behaviour index, n, was higher than 1, suggesting a non-Newtonian fluid regime with a dilatant behaviour.

This work suggests that the assayed carbon sources, at tested conditions, do not influence the broth rheology and the biomass overall production of P. agglomerans PBC-1 what can be very promising for the use of carob pulp pod as alternative and low cost feed-stock.
