## Abstract MgCl~2~βsupports for ZieglerβNatta polymerization processes were prepared by an activation method based on the thermal removal of ethyl formate (EF) from adducts between EF and MgCl~2~. The various steps of activation were investigated by Xβray diffraction (XRD) and infrared spectroscop

β¦ Synopsis
Studies on the use of magnesium oxide modified by sodium pyrophosphate, used as a support for TIC14, are described. Support characterization was made using X-ray diffraction, BET and porosimetric methods. Two different periods of time were investigated for impregnation of the support with TIC14; the catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction and chemical analyses for titanium and chloride. The catalysts were used in propene polymerizations and their activities were evaluated under changing reaction conditions such as type and concentration of aluminium alkyl, polymerization time and addition of an external electron-donor.
