β¦ Synopsis
Spontaneous emission of oriented moIecules in helical structures is tivestigxted expeximentairy for the case where the structural opacity band coincides with one of the intense emission lines of the motecutes. It is found that the decay time is marked& lengthened compared to the structuxeIess state or to the case where the stop band of the helical structure and the emission lines differ in frequency. Evidence is gven for a 'dynamic state', formed by the molecular states and the electromagnetic field of the standing waves in the stop band.

The fluorescence decay time for deczlin and dodecane has been measured wit'l and without added CC14 at several temperatures. The decay time for pure dodecane is strongly temperature dependent, whereas that for decalin is temperature independent.
The time dependence of the degree of polarization has been measured in the fluorescence decay of "single" rotational levels of ' B3u pyrazine follou%tg escitation by a 5 ns laser pulse. The emission is depolarized non-esponentialiy in time. This behavior is attributed to dephasing processes by which
The fluorescence decay times of excimers of anthracene, perylene, pyrene aud 1-methylnapbthalene have been studied in a rigid cyclohexane matrix of low temperatures. From the observed long decay times of the excimer fluorescence, it has been concluded that the excimer fluorescence is due to the ele
