โฆ Synopsis
A rapid and sensitive fluorometric assay for measuring the activity of proline reductase is described. The product of the enzymic reaction, &aminovalerate, is converted to a highly fluorescent derivative by reaction with o-phthalaldehyde. The water-soluble fluorescent product exhibits an excitation maximum at 340 nm and an emission maximum at 4.55 nm. The fluorophor reacts specifically with Gaminovalerate without any interference from proline.
