Abstract

The 6โ€hydroxyโ€2Hโ€pyranโ€3(6H)โ€ones 1aโ€“d are esterified stereoselectively with acetic and formic acid, and with several amino acids and peptide derivatives using the DCC/DMAP method. The direct synthesis of the 6โ€alkoxy derivatives 3gโ€“k is also studied.

## Abstract The ^1^H and ^13^C NMR spectra of __trans__โ€ and __cis__โ€__tert__โ€butyl 2โ€methoxyโ€5,6โ€dihydroโ€2__H__โ€pyranโ€6โ€carboxylates (1 and 2) and 6,6โ€ฒโ€disubstituted 2โ€methoxyโ€5,6โ€dihydroโ€2__H__โ€pyrans (3โ€7) have been recorded.
