โฆ Synopsis
The paper of the evening, on " High Temperature Investigations," was read by Dr. Edwin F. Northrup, of the Palmer Physical Laboratory, Princeton University. A summary was presented of the results of investigations by the speaker in the measurement of high temperatures. New furnaces for the production of high temperature were shown in operation for the first time.
A high temperature pyrometer and resistometer, recently devised, was also exhibited and described. The problems of electrical conductivity at high temperatures and the electrical conduction of metals in liquid and vapor states were given consideration.
The subject was illustrated by lante;n slides and numerous experiments. After a discussion by Drs. Richards and Goldsmith, Messrs. Snook, Fulweiler, Spencer, and others, the thanks of the meeting were extended to Dr. Northrup.
