✦ Synopsis

The features of using thermoacoustics to induce a pressure increase and to avoid stratification are analysed in this paper. The experimental results obtained showed that thermoacoustic oscillations may be used to increase the period of liquid helium storage without venting.

A model describing ac superconducting composite behaviour by taking account of the boiling transition of liquid helium, used as a refrigerant, is described. A comparison of the resultant volt~mpere characteristics with the experimental values proves the validity of the model.
