## Abstract The thermal behavior of cellulose dissolved in ionic liquids was studied in comparison to NMMO solutions. The cellulose solutions were characterized by reaction calorimetry and UV‐vis spectroscopy. Generation of chromophoric substances in cellulose/IL solutions is minimized by exposing
