P450 enzyme: structure elucidated by Astex

Astex Technology has elucidated the first 3-dimensional crystal structure of a human cytochrome P450 enzyme. This will facilitate the design of drugs to reduce metabolic and toxicity conditions.

Kyowa Exeo to beef up environmental business

Kyowa Exeo Corp aims to double its revenues from devices to remove dioxins from exhaust gases or organic matter from wastewater. Tighter dioxin regulations will be introduced in Japan in Dee 2002. The company plans to achieve its aim by developing and marketing devices to industrial waste processors, local governing bodies, and others. It has developed a device which uses photocatalysts to isolate (sic -Ed) dioxins. Kyowa Exeo had revenues of Yen 1.9 bn in 2000, and aims to increase these to Yen 3.8 bn in fiscal 2002.
