Abstract

The preparation of 3โ€acrylamidoโ€3โ€methylbutanoic acid by a haloform reaction on diacetone acrylamide and by a Ritter reaction between acrylonitrile and ฮฒ,ฮฒโ€dimethylacrylic acid is reported. The properties of this crystalline monomer and its homopolymer are also reported.
