## Abstract A novel fullerene**β**maleic anhydride derivative was synthesized via radical polymerization. It is soluble in polar solvents such as water, dimethyl sulfoxide, and tetrahydrofuran etc. The product was characterized by FTIR, UVβVis, GPC, and Transmission electron microscope (TEM). TEM a
