✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Ductus venosus connecting the portal and embryonic venous circulation into the inferior vena cava has a crucial role in fetal circulation. The absence of ductus venosus is a rare anomaly, in which the umbilical vein connection to the venous system may be extrahepatic, bypassing the liver or intrahepatic via the portal venous system. We report three cases of ductus venosus agenesis with associated anomalies. In two of them the connection was directly to the right atrium, whereas the umbilical vein drained to the left internal iliac artery in the third case. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract Fetal intra‐abdominal umbilical vein varix (FIUVV) is a focal aneurysmal dilatation of the umbilical vein. Its clinical importance has not yet been clearly established, but it has been reported to be associated with increased fetal death rate (in nearly 44% of cases) and chromosomal abn

Diagnosis of three types of anomalous course of the umbilical vein (UV) was made in 10 cases using antenatal ultrasound (US). Pulsed wave (PW) Doppler ultrasound was used to evaluate the UV in all cases. In one case, the UV was directly joining the superior vena cava (SVC) without forming subcutaneo

## Abstract The objective of our article is to illustrate the earliest prenatal sonographic diagnosis of femoral–facial syndrome (FFS) and to illustrate the spectrum of clinical manifestations of this condition. We present serial sonographic evaluation with 3D evaluation in two fetuses diagnosed pr

Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation (VGAM) is a rare, intracranial vascular anomaly that, until recently, has usually been diagnosed postnatally. Today, however, with the advances in high-resolution ultrasonography and colour Doppler, prenatal diagnosis is relatively easy. Due to novel intravascul

The association of rare chromosomal rearrangements involving a specific 10q breakpoint with a single umbilical artery (SUA) and sex reversal has never been reported. This report describes the case of a fetus with prenatal ultrasound features of severe intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR), congenit
