β¦ Synopsis
A high-powered semiconductor diode laser (805 nm) has recently been developed for medical use. The laser-tissue interactions of this wavelength have been compared with NdYAG (1064 nm). When used in the contact mode, the extent of tissue vaporization and zones of thermal necrosis produced by these two lasers were similar. The diode laser was also an effective and haemostatic laser scalpel. This compact laser unit has potential advantages over existing NdYAG lasers. o 1992 wiley-Liss, Inc.

## Abstract ## Background and Objective Concerning current clinical practice, laserβassisted lipoplasty is still secondary to other procedures. In order to evaluate effects of thermal interaction with fattyβtissue, a near infrared diode laser was examined under reproducible conditions. ## Methods
In this paper we report on the characterization of a diode-side-pumped Nd:YAG rod laser operating at 300 W CW output power. The simulated and measured pump energy distributions in the crystal are compared. The thermal lens effect of the Nd:YAG have been experimentally investigated, and its influence
We report on a compact high-power passively modelocked Nd:LuVO4 laser by use of semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). The laser generated clean CW modelocked pulses with an average output power of 8.6 W, a repetition rate of 144 MHz, and a pulse duration of 13.2 ps. By employing a three-m
