β¦ Synopsis
In this paper we report on the characterization of a diode-side-pumped Nd:YAG rod laser operating at 300 W CW output power. The simulated and measured pump energy distributions in the crystal are compared. The thermal lens effect of the Nd:YAG have been experimentally investigated, and its influence on the performance of the laser are discussed. Output power and the beam quality of the laser under different resonator mirrors and rod end-face curvatures have been experimentally studied. The optical-to-optical and electrical-to-optical efficiencies are 28.5% and 11%, respectively. The beam parameter product is 40 mmβ mrad and the instability of laser is about 3%.

We report on a compact high-power passively modelocked Nd:LuVO4 laser by use of semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). The laser generated clean CW modelocked pulses with an average output power of 8.6 W, a repetition rate of 144 MHz, and a pulse duration of 13.2 ps. By employing a three-m
## Abstract The use of the CO~2~ laser in liver surgery is mainly limited by the lack of coagulation of the larger vessels. In an experimental study, partial liver resections were performed on pigs with a Nd:YAG as well as with a combined CO~2~ and Nd: YAG laser. The best cutting efficiency was obt
A diode-side-pumped actively Q-switched Nd:YAG/SrWO4 intracavity Raman laser has been demonstrated, in which a Nd:YAG module is used as the fundamental laser source and a SrWO 4 crystal is used as the Raman active medium to generate first-Stokes laser at 1180 nm. A convexplane cavity is employed to
## Background and Objectives : Traumatic transection of a peripheral nerve is inherently associated with the development of neuroma at the end of the proximal stump, often leading to therapyresistant pain. This study was designed to evaluate whether the neodymium:yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) la
