β¦ Synopsis
The stepwise stability constants of 1 : 1 and 2:1 complexes of selenomethionine (SeMet) with Cu n and Zn H ions have been determined in NaNO 3 (0.1 M) supporting electrolyte by potentiometric titration at 25 ~ The overall log stability constant (log/~ML 2 = [ML2]/[M2+][L 112) for Cu H and Zn It complexes are 14.50 and 8.75, respectively. Two new solids were prepared and identified by elemental microanalysis as (SeMet)zCu and (SeMet)2Zn. I.r. and Raman spectral studies indicated metal coordination with the nitrogen and oxygen atoms of the amino acidato group of SeMet. The corresponding stretching bands were assigned at 341.1cm 1forCu--O,352.9cm-lforZn O, 497.3 cm -1 for Cu--N and 475.2 cm-~ for Zn--N bonds.

The properties of pilocarpine as a ligand toward the halides of cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) were investigated. Pilocarpine behaved as a monodentate ligand, giving rise to compounds with the general formula methyl(pilocarpine)2X2. The coordinating geometry at the metal ion was ps
