✦ Synopsis
The following account of potato breeding in Russia does not claim to be a comprehensive one, since it is based on the information I was able to gain on a three weeks' visit last July . Furthermore, I was not able to devote the whole of my time to potato breeding since the main object of my visit was to study the wild species of potatoes that the Russians have collected from Mexico and South America, and which they have been using in the breeding of new commercial varieties .
