## Abstract The spectrophotometric determination of traces of Ce^4+^ and Ti^3+^ in the presence of respectively large excesses of Ce^3+^ (≤ 10^–1^ M) and Ti^4+^ (≤ 10^−1^ M), is described. Indirect methods are elaborated for both ions. The reaction of Ce^4+^ with an excess of Fe^2+^ gives an equiv

Abstract
The sensitivity of a direct spectrophotometric determination of vitamin D~2~ (calciferol), based on its ultra‐violet absorption, proved to be 1 microgram/ml., or better. Compared with the current colorimetric techniques, the ultra‐violet method is capable of a much higher accuracy.‐The ultra‐violet absorption spectrum of calciferol remains unchanged in the presence of calcium phosphate or gluconate. The latter compounds show only a slight continuous absorption in the same spectral range. Consequently, the ultra‐violet determination of calciferol can be performed without previous elimination of calcium salts.
