โฆ Synopsis
Fluorescence polarization measurements of protoporphyrin embedded in the heme-pockets of myoglobin and hemoglobin reveal three different rotational regimes of the porphyrin which are temperature-dependent. At very low temperatures, porphyrin motions in the cavity depend upon the viscosity of the external solvent, at intermediate temperatures upon the oscillation dipolar environment, and above approximately O"C, upon the microviscosity of the protein medium.
