โœฆ Synopsis

A porous layer is generated by electrochemical dissolution of silicon in HF. This new material has some very interesting applications in microstructuring, sensorics, microelectronics and microoptics. The etching process and the morphology of porous silicon are described. Possible applications are discussed.

High eciencies of thin crystalline Si solar cells grown on highly doped substrates have been reported. We propose porous Si layers located near the interface of the active layer and the substrate to introduce an optical conยฎnement into these cells. We report on the experimental proof of the principl
