In the title coordination polymer, [Ni(C 8 H 4 O 4 )(C 4 H 10 N 2 )] n , the Ni(II) atom is situated on a C 2 axis and is six-coordinated by two N atoms from two piperazine (pip) molecules, four O atoms from two bidentate and chelating terephthalate (tp) anions, forming a distorted octahedron. Both

✦ Synopsis
The structure of the title compound, [NiV 2 O 6 (C 12 H 10 N 2 )] n , is composed of corner-sharing [V 2 O 6 ] 2À chains along the c axis, with the [Ni(bpe)] 2+ (bpe = trans-1,2-di-4-pyridylethylene) units covalently attached to every V site through O atoms. The Ni atom is octahedrally coordinated by two pyridyl N atoms from two different bpe ligands, and four O atoms from four different VO 4 tetrahedra. All the C and H atoms are disordered over two positions each; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.55 and 0.45.
