β¦ Synopsis
The racemic binaphthol derivatized ligands LLZracK1,1 0 -C 20 H 12 (OCH 2 -4-C 5 H 4 N) 2 , 1, and racK1,1 0 -C 20 H 12 (OCH 2 -3-C 5 H 4 N) 2 , 2, react with silver trifluoroacetate or with mercury(II) salts to give the polymeric complexes [Ag(O 2 CCF 3 )(m-LL)] n or [HgX 2 (m-LL)] n . Individual polymer chains may be chiral or racemic, with sequences of binaphthyl groups with chirality .RRR., .SSS. or .RSRS., respectively. The polymer chains may associate, through Ag/Ag or Hg-X/Hg secondary bonding, to give more complex double-stranded polymer or sheet structures.

## Abstract A new class of iron(II) and cobalt(II) complexes with neutral, tetradentate bis(pyridylimine) chelate ligands bridged by a chiral 6,6β²βdimethylbiphenyl backbone has been synthesized. Their dihalogen derivatives gave spectral, magnetic and Xβray diffraction results in agreement with a __
