The oligomer of fumaronitrile 3, obtained by anionic polymerisation of fumaronitrile with butyllithium, is able to isomerise fumaronitrile to maleonitril. Kinetics and thermodynamics are examined and a model for the mechanism is proposed.

## Abstract Bernsteinsäuredinitril wurde in Gegenwart von anionisch angreifenden Katalysatoren zu Polymeren umgesetzt. Die Polymerisation des Nitrils z. B. mit Natriummethylat in Methanol führt zum Poly(1‐pyrrolin‐2‐yl‐5‐ylidennitrilo), welches Halbleitereigenschaften mit σ~300°K~ ∼ 10^−8^Ω^−1^cm^−
