Poly(vinylpyridine N-oxide) supported dichromates are readily prepared and used as new efficient oxidizing reagents for various organic compounds such as alcohols, oximes, amines and thiols. In contrast to their monomeric analogue, pyridine N-oxide dichromate, these reagents are quite stable, have e

poly(4-vinylpyridinium)bromate
[P*Br(v)] and Amberlite IRA-400 supported bromate [Ps-Br(v)] are easily prepared and used as new oxidizing reagents. These polymeric oxidizing agents are capable of oxidizing different organic compounds. [P,-Br(v)] is more reactive and [Ps-Br(v)] is more selective. The latter is active only in the presence of a catalytic amount of a lewis acid. Both of these polymeric reagents are regenerable.
