behaviour of dibenzoyhuethane in aqueous ethanol (40 "/. v/v) has been studied at 25 f O.l"C as a function of pH using MCI buffer. Two well-defined waves are obtained in the pH range 2.2-5.0. While the first wave which corresponds to one-electron reduction process is irreversible and diffusion controlled, the second one is kinetic in nature; however in the pH range 6.0-7.6 a single irreversible and diffusion-controlled wave involving two electrons results. The kinetic parameters (an.,. ky,,) have been calculated by Koutecky's method. A tentative mechanism has been put forward for the reduction process of the depolarizer. Also, the effect ofdifferent supportmgelectrolytes on the kinetics of theirreversibleelectrode reaction of dibenzoylmethane has been investigated.
