β¦ Synopsis
In search of a reversible magnesium electrode at ambient temperature the solubilities, conductivities and reduction potentials of nine magnesium compounds, including MgCI,, Mg(CF,SO,), and Mg-acetylacetonate, were studied in 20 aprotic organic solvents (N-and O-donors) and 70 of their mixtures[l]. Although the goal was not reached, electrochemical dissolution and reduction of magnesium have been observed in systems with Mg(CF,SO& and the solvents dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethylacetamide (DMA) or y-Butyrolactone (y-BL).
