We have mextsured, by fluorescence, the relaxation times of the excited stales of the two DODCI isomers in solution irr ethanol. Excitation with a single pulse gives orlli the excited state of the normal form with Tf= (1.2 f 0.3)1x Excitation with a train of pulses leads to build-up of the photoisom

✦ Synopsis
Fluorescence spectra of DODCI photoisomer, created by laser microsecond and picosecond excitation, have been recorded. The fluorescence lifetimes of the normal and photoisomer forms of this mode-locking dye have been measured directly with a picosecond streak camera and shown to both have the same value of *330 psec. These results are related to the evolution of mode-locking in rhodamine dye lasers.

The fluorescence of the first excited state of both the normal (N) and the photoisomer (P) forms of 3,3'-diethyloxadicarbocyanine iodide (DODCI) were analyzed under steady state conditions. Argon ion laser and argon ion pumped dye laser were used for excitation. The long wavelength fluorescence, bel
Recently, Frey (Cytometry 17:310-318, 1994) demonstrated that TO-PRO-3 iodide (TP3) can be excited indirectly by a 488 nm laser line through energy transfer by propidium iodide (PI). In the present study, we investigated whether PI-TP3 energy transfer can help to overcome spectral cross talk problem
