Picosecond lifetime measurements in 109Cd and 110Cd

✦ Synopsis

Mean lifetimes of the lowest 6 yrast band members in 110 Cd and of 9 excited states in 109 Cd, populated via the 100 Mo( 13 C, 3n/4n) reactions, have been measured using the Recoil Distance Doppler Shift technique (RDDS). The data have been analyzed using the Differential Decay Curve Method (DDCM). The E2 transition probabilities deduced from the data for the ground band of 110 Cd are in rather good agreement with the predictions of the U(5)-limit of the Interacting Boson Model-1 (IBM-1).
