✦ Synopsis

The picosecond fluorescence lifetime of 4-(N,Ndimethylamino)triphenylphosphine in propanol s&vent was measured at high pressures up to 400 MPa by the method of time-correlated single-photon counting. The fluorescence response curves were well fitted to triple exponential functions monitored at both wavelengths of local excited and intramolecular charge-transfer bands. The initial lifetime is faster than the longitudinal relaxation time of the solvent and increases with pressure.
