The fluorescence of 2-(3'-hydroxy-2'-naphthyl) bcnzimidazole in solution shows two bands at ~400 and 600 MI, respectively assigned to the open-enol form bound to the solvent, and to the phototautomer produced from the closedenol form. Both enol species coexist in the ground state. A fluorescence ris
