✦ Synopsis

Physical properties of mahaleb (Prunus mahaleb L.) kernels were determined as a function of moisture content. In the moisture range from 2Á9 to 10Á2% d.b. the sphericity of mahaleb increased from 0Á841 to 0Á867, the 1000 kernel mass from 0Á205 to 0Á215 kg, the projected area from 0Á866 to 0Á997 cm 2 and angle of repose from 25 to 30Á58. Bulk density decreased from 616 to 566 kg m À3 , kernel density from 1250 to 1110 kg m À3 , porosity from 0Á507 to 0Á490 and terminal velocity from 7Á56 to 6Á42 m s À1 .
