✦ Synopsis

Singlet oxygen luminescence has been discovered in polymeric polyethyleneterephtralatc and triacetate finis coloured by porphyrin_ trip&vine and anthraquinone dyes. Quantum yield of porphyrin-sensitized O-. emission in it polyethyleneterephthahte filnl has been estimsted to be 1O-6. The experimental evidence supports the fxt that oxygen dissolved in LL polymer matrix luminescences.

Novel bands at 1073 and 1160 nm were detected in the spectrum of the photosensitized singlet oxygen luminescence in airsaturated solutions. The 1073 nm band was observed in carbon tetrachloride, freon 113 and hexafluorobenzene. The data suggest that it accompanies the { '4( v= 1) -%,( v=O)} transiti

The absolute quantum yield of the photosensitized luminescence from lag 0 2 has been measured in air-saturated solutions of tetraphenylporphin in CC14, the value (4.4 + 1.3) X 10 -3 being obtaified. The radiative lifetime of lAg O 2 is approximately constant in all solvents investigated and is 4.1 -

The time-correlated single photon counting technique was applied to the measurement of photosensitized singlet oxygen luminescence induced by flash laser excitation. Rise and decay kinetics of this luminescence has been measured with 10 ns resolution in aqueous solutions of tetra(psulfophenyl)porphy
