Fluorescence quanu~m yields and fluorescence lifetimes of I.5diazaazulene were measured in cyclohexane. benzene and ethanol. The fluoresccncr quannm~ yield (O.OOZ4 in cyclohexanc, L 1 wd the fluorescence IifeCme (0.80 ns in cyclohexane) are only slightly affected by the solvents. A rather !arge quamum yield of '5.63 for triplet formation in benzene was dewmined by the method of triplet-triplet energy rransfer.
