Abetract-The photoelecWochemical properties of polycrystzdline

TiOl prepared at bigb temperature and doped polycrystalline Ti02 with noble metals have been investigated. The polycrystalline TiO, prepared at high te&pemtrule give a cathodic photocurren taswellasaviaibklight~nse.~phenomenecanbe cxptniamd by a model based on the d-band formed by the intcrstitiai Ti ion in TiOI lattice. The doped polrcrJnclllinc TiOt with noble met& (Rb, Ry Pt, Au) prepad at low templrahule also show a cathodic pbotocurremt and a visible light response. These are based on the impurity band formed by the doping mctais. It is jwiged that the impurity band in near the x* conduction band for the doped TiOs witb Rb, Ru and Pt, but is I~CPT the II valence band ,for the Au doped Ti02 in energy position. It is found that there exist overlap potenti& of the anodic and cathodic photocurrents at the doped TiOz with nobk metals. This will provide evidcmx on the mechanism of theenhancement of the photocatalysis on TiOz owing to the doping of noble
