โฆ Synopsis
FOUR FIGURES Most of those dyes which produce hemolysis in the presence of light (photodynamic action) also act as hemolysins in the dark, though only in much higher concentrations. The following experiments offer a comparative study of these two effects which have been shown by Blum and McBride ('31) to have independent mechanisms. METHOD The method employed is essentially that of Ponder ('34, chap. VI) for the study of the time dilution curve for hemolysis by simple lysins. It depends basically upon the measure-'Assisted by a grant from the Research Funds of the University of California.
