✦ Synopsis

Exact quantum calculations are presented for fine structure cross sections in photodissociation of Naz. Resonance peaks in the NzI(~P,,) cross section arise from the highest two quasibound levels supported by the electronic barrier in the B *$ state. Long-range non-adiabaticity is rendered negligible by large resonant dipole splittings between electronic states.
