✦ Synopsis
The hght induced degradation and oxidation of PS/PVAc blends was studted using a fluorescent lamp with range emisston from 280 to 350 nm. The observed degradatton processes are more effictent in PS/PVAc blends than in pure polymers. The course of photooxidation depends strongly on sample composition-is accelerated for blends with S-50% of PVAc and is retarded in a sample containing > 50% of PVAc. The mechanrsm of mutual reactions between the blend component was dtscussed. The comparison of results obtained for samples irradiated upon two different lamps indicates that type of light source (hght intensrty and wavelength) has an mfluence on the photoprocesses occurrmg in polymer blends.
