✦ Synopsis

A photocured sodium ion-selective electrode, based on the ionophore N,N-dibenzyl-N,N'-diphenyl-1,2-phenylenedioxydiacetamide (ETH 157), was developed and evaluated. The robust nature of the photocured membrane made it ideally suited for measurements in flow injection potentiometry. The detection limit was 4x 10p5M. The electrode was used successfully to determine sodium levels in a range of drinking water and environmental water samples.

The preparation of a potassium-selective electrode based on a photo-cured polymer membrane containing valinomycin is reported. This electrode has similar response characteristics to one based on PVC with the same neutral carrier. It is suitable for use in flow-injection systems because of its fast i

A solid-state conductive polymer composite is proposed as a substitute for the internal liquid reference in a sodium sensor. Epoxy-graphite is used as the composite and NASICON as a sensitive membrane. The absence of a liquid internal solution allows the straightforward construction of these transdu
