The transient species formed in the photochernical reactions of CSZ and NH3 were detected through their absorption spectra employing flash photolysis techniques. The mechanism of formation of the SH, NH and NH1 radicals in these reactions was studied. Study of the transient species formed in the pho

β¦ Synopsis
Flash photolysis has been used extensively in the advancement of our understanding of the electron transfer reactivity of metalloproteins and in investigation of the kinetic complexities of electron transferinitiated protein folding. Additional opportunities for the use of flash photolysis to understand the functional properties of metalloproteins have been afforded through the use of photoactive caged complexes. This review surveys the uses of caged complexes to the study of metalloproteins that have been reported and considers the potential for expanded use of photoactive caged complexes that have not yet been applied in this manner.

A new method involving the use of flash photolysis followed by rapid high performance liquid chromatography analysis is described and applied to the examination of the photodegradation of 4-chlorophenol (I) in aerated aqueous solution (6.3~ lop4 M). Analysis after a single flash indicates that p-ben
